SORRENTO STUDS CLASSY CAPE SALE DRAFT
26 February 2019

Terry & Annabel Andrews’ Sorrento Stud, whose graduates include recent G3 Tommy Hotspur Handicap winner Down To Zero, will be offering eight yearlings, by a host of different stallions, at next month’s Cape Yearling Sale.

Among the stallions represented in the Sorrento draft are the likes of Elusive Fort, Global View, Querari and Visionaire, while resident sire, and former Triple Crown winner, Louis The King, has three first crop yearlings on offer in this classy consignment.
Louis The King, “the people’s horse”, was a tremendous athlete, who not only pulled off the 2014 South African Triple Crown (Gauteng Guineas, SA Classic and SA Derby), but also downed a high class field when victorious in the G1 Sansui Summer Cup as a four-year-old.
His trio of yearlings in the Sorrento draft include a filly (Lot 117) whose dam is a four time winning daughter of champion sire Silvano, a filly (Lot 137) from the immediate family of US champion filly Caledonia Road, and a half-brother (Lot 183) to recent 2yo winner What You Are.

Sorrento are also offering the only yearling by former Leading First/Second Crop sire Visionaire at the 2019 Cape Yearling Sale. This filly (Lot 16) not only shares her sire with top class fillies Takingthepeace and Heaps Of Fun but also hails from the same family as G3 Umzimkhulu Handicap winning filly Winter Magic.

Consistently successful sire Elusive Fort is the sire of Absolutely Fab (Lot 26) a filly, bred on the same cross as millionaire Fort Ember, whose four time winning dam is a daughter of high class sire Kahal, while the Philanthropist colt (Lot 115) Private Initiative is from the same family as international standouts Harbour Law, Inchinor and Poet’s Word –among others.

Galileo sire Global View, whose first yearlings have already made up to R1.3 million, is represented here by Global Tiger (Lot 63) a colt from the same female line as stakes winners Re-Print and Print Out, while increasingly successful sire Querari, whose progeny include current G1 performer Head Honcho, is represented in the Sorrento draft by In Haste (Lot 73). The latter is out of a winning own sister to Equus Champion Hot Ticket and bred on the same cross as stakes winners Cosmic Light, Wonderwall and Joking.
