STONE HILL STUD TO OFFER EXCEPTIONALLY WELLBRED COLT AT NATIONAL SALE
15 April 2019

Stone Hill Stud will be offering just one yearling at this year’s Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale, but this colt is from a family on fire!

This unnamed bay (Lot 470) is a son of Cartier Champion, Horse Of The Year and seven time G1 winner Rock Of Gibraltar –whose 130 stakes winners (16 G1 winners) include such standout international stars as Mount Nelson, Society Rock, Varenar, Eagle Mountain, Diamondrella and Irish 1000 Guineas winner Samitar.

The Coolmore Stud based Rock Of Gibraltar has also enjoyed notable success in South Africa, where his representatives include Equus Champion Alboran Sea, the G1 winners Europa Point and sire Seventh Rock, and Fillies Guineas winners Arcetri Pink and Gibraltar Blue (the latter being herself represented on this sale by a Silvano filly).

This great champion’s only lot on the National Sale this year is a colt out of a mare by the triple G1 winning champion Champs Elysees (whose progeny include last year’s G1 Qipco 1000 Guineas winner Billesdon Brook).

His second dam is a half-sister to the dual G1 winner, and highly successful sire, Dutch Art, as well as to G2 Blandford Stakes winner Up.

The latter made headlines recently when her two-year-old son Monarch Of Egypt became the very first winner for Triple Crown winner American Pharoah!

This colt, who has a real stallion’s pedigree, traces back directly to Irish Oaks winner Silken Glider and this is the female line of breed shaping stallions Sadler’s Wells and Nureyev.
